Najla Basketfield
Najla serves as the Clinical Lead and Deputy CEO of PIPS Hope and Support, where she oversees a team of counsellors and first contact navigators while enhancing the organisation's governance. She is committed to collaborating with professionals in suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention to meet the needs of our communities effectively.
With a background as the Director of a Protect Life Community Interest Company in the Southern Trust for 6 years, Najla established and developed the organization following a personal experience with suicide in her family. This experience has deepened her understanding of the challenges faced by individuals and families affected by suicide, driving her passion for this field.
As a Registered General Nurse with nearly 30 years of management experience, Najla has managed two businesses and worked in various medical pharmaceutical and nursing roles. Her previous role as a Band 7 Health Protection Nurse with the Public Health Agency involved conducting risk assessments in acute response situations, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare landscape across different sectors.
In her leisure time, Najla enjoys spending quality time with her husband and four children.
