Title: Training & Community Development Officer
Place of work: PIPS Hope and Support – Newry or Lurgan
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Salary: £21,589 - £24,799 pro rata
Hours: 37.5
Annual Leave: 24 days plus 11 Statutory Days

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- As part of the PIPS H&S Team, input to the development, delivery and monitoring of all aspects of the Training, Education and including Community Development
- Deliver Courses and Modules in Suicide prevention, in particular PHA funded training including: Mental Health First Aid, ASIST Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, safeTALK training & B Positive training and any related mental health or suicide prevention subjects in line with the PIPS H&S strategy across the local and regional community of NI & Border regions (all staff will be provided with the necessary training by PIPS Hope & Support to deliver and facilitate such training).
- Work collaboratively with PIPS H&S’s Administrator, PIPS H&S and freelance staff and volunteers to deliver quality training.
- Develop, produce, run and facilitate training sessions in multiple formats.
- Deal with enquiries, requests for information and correspondence from professionals and members of the public relating to training and development opportunities in a professional and efficient manner.
- Promote, set up and manage bespoke and development work in line with PIPS H&S strategy.
- Build and develop relationships with relevant institutions, organisations, professional bodies and voluntary public or private sector organisations to broaden training opportunities.
- Promote the training, social and health care aspects of Suicide prevention, mental health with community and professional groups, other relevant organisations and individuals external to PIPS H&S.
- Attend relevant Forums, steering groups, Health Fairs, Networking events, etc as is required
- To support other areas of PIPS H&S’s work as required.
- 3rd Level Qualification and evidence-based facilitation skills.
Or - 2 years' experience of delivering approved and accredited training in a paid or voluntary capacity.
- Excellent presentation, organisation, and IT skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate a successful track record of managing and delivering community training/education programmes/workshops.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Ability to recruit participants and achieve objectives and targets within an agreed budget.
- Flexibility.
- A full current driving license and/or access to a form of transport which will enable the post holder to carry out all duties daily.
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (T4T).
- Mental Health First Aid Trainer (T4T).
- SafeTALK trainer (T4T).
- Vulnerable Adults Trainer.
- Knowledge of Mental Health and Suicide prevention strategies.
- Knowledge and experience of organising training events.
- Experience of working in the voluntary sector.
- Delivery of additional Mental Health or Suicide prevention or Self-harm training programmes.
