Annual Christmas Service - 13th December 2020
ONLINE, PIPS Hope & Support, Christmas Service of Remembrance, Hope & Healing for Families and Friends bereaved through suicide.
(Face to Face Services have been halted temporarily because of the COVID-19 pandemic).
Statement from the Chief Executive, Seamus McCabe:
"Every year, PIPS Hope & Support welcomes suicide bereaved families and friends to a Christmas Service of Remembrance, Hope & Healing to celebrate the life of their loved ones and to gain comfort from Reflections, Poems, Beautiful Music & Singing, a Candlelight Possession and a Memory Tree service.
This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, it was not possible to deliver the service in the usual way, but we here at PIPS Hope & Support were determined to ensure families and friends can still come together and share that experience so that we feel less alone in our grief.
This year the service will be hosted in The Church of Mary of the Assumption, (Drumalane Church,) Newry on Sunday 13th December at 3pm and will be broadcast via the church’s website as a live broadcast. Anyone wishing to attend can use the scanned QR Code shown on the poster attached or use the link for the service : www.newrymiddlekilleavy.com/index.php/live-broadcast/
Links to the online service described above will also be shared from the Church’s own Facebook account and from PIPS Hope and Support Facebook account.
The Christmas service, offers a time for personal reflection and remembrance and as with previous years, Memorial Candles will be lit during the service and Memorial Cards will be added to the Memory Tree, if any family member, friend, neighbour or colleague would like to add a Memorial Card to the Memory Tree, please email info@pipshopeandsupport.org or call the PIPS Hope & Support Office, 028 3026 6195 with the sentiments that you would like added to the card and we will ensure that it is placed on the Memory Tree during the service by our volunteer bereaved family member, as per previous years, the Memory Tree will then be placed in Newry Cathedral over the Christmas Period for anyone to visit or add memorabilia and will remain there until January 6th 2021.
I would like to add that I do hope this year’s alternative Christmas Service brings comfort and peace to all those who need it".
