Building a Stronger Community: PIPS Hope and Support’s BCCP Programme
PIPS Hope and Support, in collaboration with Medical Hall Pharmacy and The Haven, Newry, has been addressing key community challenges through the Building Community Capacity Programme (BCCP). Supported by the Community Development and Health Network, this initiative focused on tackling health issues, reducing social isolation, and promoting suicide prevention through a strong network of care.
A Collaborative Approach to Wellbeing
Throughout the programme, a diverse range of organizations and experts contributed their knowledge and support:
- Cuan Mhuire & Dunlewey – Addiction support services
- Volunteer Now – The mental health benefits of volunteering
- Community Advice Newry – Financial and benefits advice
- Joanne Callan – Mindfulness techniques for wellbeing
- Centered Soul – Laughter and drum therapy for emotional resilience
- Medical Hall Pharmacy – Health advice on sleep, smoking, and overall wellness
- PIPS Hope and Support – A deeply moving session on grief and bereavement
Each session provided valuable insights, equipping participants with tools to improve their health and wellbeing while fostering stronger community connections.
Gratitude to The Haven Group
A special thank you goes to The Haven Group and their dedicated volunteers—Deirdre, Julia, Jackie, Peter, Kate, and all those working behind the scenes—for their kindness, hospitality, and unwavering commitment to this programme. Their generosity and support have played a key role in making this initiative a success.
We are also incredibly grateful for the beautiful painting gifted to PIPS Hope and Support, which now holds a special place in our office as a symbol of community strength and resilience.
By working together, we continue to build a more connected, compassionate, and supportive community.
